Can cats drink almond milk?

Cats should avoid drinking almond milk. While almond milk is non-toxic to cats and free from dairy lactose, feline digestive systems are obligate carnivores meant to process meat-based diets. They lack the digestive enzymes needed to process nuts and plant fats effectively.

Drinking almond milk can cause gastrointestinal distress in cats, including stomach upset, vomiting, and diarrhea. Commercial almond milks may also contain added sugars, emulsifiers, or sweeteners like xylitol, which can be harmful or toxic. Plain water is the only liquid your cat needs for health and proper hydration.
