Is tapioca syrup bad for you?
Tapioca syrup is not inherently toxic, but like any added sugar, it should be consumed sparingly. It is a refined carbohydrate sweetener produced from cassava root starch. While it is non-GMO, gluten-free, and lacks the high fructose content of high-fructose corn syrup, it still contains fast-digesting simple sugars.
Consuming high amounts of tapioca syrup can raise blood sugar levels, increase daily calorie intake, and contribute to weight gain or metabolic strain over time. It offers minimal vitamins or minerals. When used in moderation within a balanced diet, it works fine as a natural sweetener, but it remains a sugar.
